Hello Conversationalists!

Hopefully you all were able to enjoy some safe time with your families and friends this past Thanksgiving season! As the times are changing and the holiday season approaches, we hope that you are able to connect with someone new and share some of your favorite holiday experiences with them. For now though continue on to see what we were up to last month, as well as our FreeIC holiday tips & ideas!

Virtual FreeIC Session in Munich

Our FreeIC group in Munich was able to connect online with Kyle and host a session! The event was smaller than some of our others this year, but this provided a great opportunity for participants to connect with each other and have even deeper conversations.

FreeIC Holiday Ideas

FreeIC is committed to fostering new connections between and amongst communities, but we are also interested in people staying safe and interacting with care this upcoming holiday season. As such, below are some tips and activities you can consider that can help support both initiatives!

Virtual Cookoff

Reach out virtually to family, friends, and people across the FreeIC community to trade recipes, talk about your favorite dishes, and have a call where you all cook to see who's recipe turns out the greatest! This is a great activity for making holiday cookie

Socially Distanced Gift Exchange

Make a group of friends and family to host a socially distanced white elephant gift exchange! Have everyone go onto a name randomizing platform like drawnames.com and then have everyone mail a gift to their selected person. Then on a designated date, have a zoom call and everyone can take turns opening their presents!

FreeIC Holiday Tips

More than other times of the year, holidays are typically a time where families are able to reconnect and gather together. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic going on, these activities can be risky. The following points will hopefully aide you in being safe while planning your holiday connections

  • Keep your eating area and social gathering areas separate from each other.

    • This will help decrease time/exposure between friends and family without masks

  • When in close proximity with others inside, wear a mask.

    • Masks are helpful for decreasing the amount of particles that are transmitted into the air and breathed in from the air.

  • Add open ventilation to closed rooms.

    • This new source of airflow can help decrease the amount of Covid-19 particles gathering in the air

  • If planning a holiday gathering, recommend that attendees quarantine from public social gatherings 10 days prior to your personal event

  • Stay active.

    • We will likely be spending a lot of time indoors this holiday season, so it is important to stay active and have some home workouts in mind to maintain physical health, and reduce stress.
