Hello Conversationalists

The month of May did not feature any official FreeIC events; however, we have been continuing our work to prepare new means for authentic conversations, and to continue to refine the FreeIC organization so that we are well prepared and equipped to resume our street, campus, and business events once the quarantines for the pandemic are hopefully lifted later this year.

Though the month of May did not see much movement from our end, there was a lot of movement globally due to the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. At this time thousands of people have taken to the streets to protest for justice and reform. FreeIC supports civil disobedience and believes in people using their voice to inform community conversations—however tough those conversations may be. If you’re not currently having these conversations, it’s understandable if you don’t know where to begin. As much as possible we want to encourage you to find your place in the conversation. To quote our FreeIC Manifesto:

There are a lot of problems in the world and though we don’t have the answers to them, we believe that the first step towards a solution is to get people to talk to each other. We believe that we can solve these problems one conversation at a time.

Halfway Mark for 2020

2020 has been a very unique year for FreeIC because it has caused us to totally re-evaluate how we should create events, and how to interact with others in public. Given our decrease in public activity, it has provided us with the chance to better understand the essential aspects of our conversations, adopt new ways of facilitating conversations, and also has allowed us to focus on how we can better execute our brand and serve our FreeIC communities. We look forward to applying the lessons and work achieved during this time, in the weeks ahead.

FreeIC Website Under Construction

Our current website was created early in the life of our FreeIC organization, and as we have grown, we have decided that we want to update our website to better present what we have become as an organization, and to improve the experience of visitors who come to learn more about FreeIC. To that end we have begun work to restructure our website. So, be on the lookout for our new and improved website to launch later this summer!
